Volunteer with Crookstone Adventure Trust
Crookstone Barn is run by volunteers with wide and varied duties and tasks to complete. These include clerical duties, coordinating bookings, and handling the trust accounts. Due to the location and nature of the barn, maintenance is year‑round — plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and brickwork all need attention. We often carry out larger maintenance and improvement projects during our closed season.
Our ex‑military Land Rover Defender is our main workhorse and requires servicing and maintenance throughout the year. The barn also has a large generator which requires regular maintenance. All of this is done by our amazing volunteers!
Every group that visits Crookstone Barn must be “Seen In” and “Seen Out” — a volunteer drives our Land Rover up a 2.5‑mile off‑road track to escort the group and transport equipment.
In addition to the above we also hold a monthly meeting near Rotherham to discuss any required maintenance at the barn, current finances, the driving rota and if any upcoming groups have any specifc requirements.
